Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)
MSG is made from the sodium salt of the amino acid glutamic acid. It is a food additive that is most common in Asian cuisine, soups, and frozen meals. The FDA states that the addition of MSG to foods is "generally recognized as safe," but has received reports of many people complaining of headaches, dizziness, and nausea after consumption. Although these side effects aren't made worse by pregnancy, they can be especially unpleasant when you are already dealing with other pregnancy side effects.
